'Sup guys, this is Chris from The Ascendicate. We're the newbies in the Solid State family, fresh out of North Carolina where we like our metal with a side of melody and southern grit. You can now pre order our CD, "To Die As Kings" in the Solid State store, and get your limited edition shirt with the order. Its so limited, we don't even have one, so order the CD and shirt so we can see how it looks on you.
We hit the studio awhile back with Travis Wyrick to record what we hoped would be a record that got the attention of a label or two. We were stoked when the guys from Solid State were into it and said they were flying out to NC to check us out live. I guess we didn't suck too bad, because a couple of months later the contract showed up and things started moving.
As you'll probably see, a lot of our songs are very honest and don't really offer an easy answer or resolution, because we all know that's not how life really is. Loss, love, pain, redemption...those are some of the themes you might pick up on throughout the record. What we hope is that people will relate to the songs, and we've seen a lot of that in conversations we have with people at shows and online. It's the highest honor for us to hear that a song of ours helped someone get through a tough time, or inspired them to keep trying in whatever they are facing in life.
Yes, we are a Christian band, and love guides every decision we make, and also our daily lives in and outside of playing music. Like a lot of you, we have felt the judgment and condemnation of those that 'played church' and looked to point out the flaws in everyone but themselves. We know that its the actions of these unenlightened folk that drive so many away from a relationship with God, because its easy to equate Christianity to the hypocritical actions seen in the 'church'. So don't let it be about religion, which is just man's attempt to try to get to God and prop himself up... let it be about love, and how we treat each other, and how we live our lives in a way that makes people want to know more about where this truest
kind of love comes from...
So, until we meet on the road, pick up "To Die As Kings" and join the fight...
Peace,
Chris and The Ascendicate
